The bitter hook

ROADSTER GOES VERTICAL: TESLA ADDS THRUSTERS AND POSTS 0.81-SECOND 0–60

On the night of October 15 into October 16, Tesla livestreamed its next-gen Roadster near SpaceX McGregor / Waco. Tesla says thrusters make 4–5x tire grip force and posted "0-60 mph in 0.81 seconds." Musk: "beyond movies" and "candidate for greatest product demo of all time."

Yesterday's disaster

By Noleetah Alset, H.A.T.E. correspondent

Society tried to prepare for electric cars. Nobody prepared for electric cars with cold-gas thrusters. On the night of Thursday, October 15 into Friday, October 16, Tesla livestreamed its next-generation Roadster reveal near SpaceX's McGregor / Waco area. Tesla's own posts are the crime scene. At 12:54 AM CT-ish on October 16, @Tesla posted simply: "Roadster." Then: "Today, Roadster presents a new moment in history – the best of the last human-driven cars." Design language: "inspired by the SR-71 & F-35." Then the physics problem: "Every car on the road today is limited by one thing: tire grip. Roadster's thruster system generates 4–5x the force the tires can." Configurations posted by Tesla: Performance (road ready, seats 2) and Thrust (race ready, seats 2, rear-mounted cold-gas thrusters that enable 0–60 in <1 second). The punchline number, also from Tesla: "0-60 mph in 0.81 seconds." Musk's pregame review: "candidate for greatest product demo of all time," and "beyond movies, beyond imagination, beyond human, yet still made by humans on Earth."

Fine print, because we are a responsible disaster outlet: Tesla's config post truncated before finishing the third trim. TechCrunch reports that Rocket is "air ready," seats 1, with 10 thrusters, that Musk said build is targeted for 2028, and that Tesla's website showed reservations at $50,000 for Performance and $250,000 for Thrust, with Rocket invite-only. Those reservation figures and Rocket details are TechCrunch's reporting of the Tesla site and event — not Tesla X-post text we are treating as primary here. We are not inventing range, top speed, or hop-height numbers beyond what Tesla posted.

ELSEWHERE IN THE WRECKAGE

THE X SUBSCRIPTION ATE THREE WALLETS AND MADE ONE: On October 12, SpaceXSI introduced The X Subscription — Free, Plus $8, Premium $30, Super $100, Ultra $200 — putting Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor, and X Premium on one plan with a shared usage pool. Existing SuperGrok, Cursor, and X Premium subscribers can keep their plans or switch with a prorated refund.

GROK VOICE 3.0 IS NOW TOO GOOD AT CALL CENTERS: On October 14, SpaceXSI launched Grok Voice 3.0. Artificial Analysis ranks it #1 on the Speech-to-Speech Index at 86.9, with class-leading latency under one second. API price: $0.08/min. Starlink call centers use Grok Voice for about 20,000 customer calls a day; roughly 70% resolve with no human in the loop.

SHIP 40 CAME HOME AND STOOD UP: On October 13, SpaceX posted that Ship 40 is "the first Starship to return to its launch site," now vertical in a Megabay at Starbase for first-of-its-kind data on a flown heatshield, Raptors, and more.

CRS-35 ARRIVED AT WORK: On October 15, SpaceX posted: "Docking confirmed – Dragon has arrived at the @Space_Station!"

BORING COMPANY BROUGHT A 900,000 LB GUEST TO SAN ANTONIO: On October 14, @boringcompany said Prufrock-5 arrived at Morgan's Inclusion Campus. The 900,000 lb TBM will dig a 0.8-mile tunnel for people of all abilities once final permits clear.

NEURALINK FRIDAY: THE WHEELCHAIR NOW TAKES THOUGHT REQUESTS. On July 23, 2026, Neuralink posted that clinical trial participants can control a powered wheelchair with their minds, with a thread and video ("Telepathic Wheelchair Control | Neuralink," youtube.com/watch?v=78m32VSOMBk). The joke is aimed at the news cycle, not at anyone in the trial. Devices remain investigational and are not FDA-approved.

Also in the pile we are not centering: a Falcon 9 Starlink return from Vandenberg on October 12 (LookyLiu cited space.com; we did not hang the edition on a secondary launch write-up). Skipped on purpose: Ukraine Starshield / politics.

The compli-insult pivot

Credit where it's cruel

Here's the painful part: none of this is a scandal. Tesla showed a next-gen Roadster with cold-gas thrusters that it says make 4–5x tire grip force, posted 0–60 in 0.81 seconds, and framed the car as "the best of the last human-driven cars." SpaceXSI rolled The X Subscription and Grok Voice 3.0 (#1 on Artificial Analysis speech-to-speech at 86.9). Ship 40 is home and vertical. CRS-35 docked. Prufrock-5 is in San Antonio. And Neuralink's July wheelchair-control demo is still investigational. Snarky, yes. Made up, no. The receipts are below.

Breaking from the desk. Tesla just revealed its next-generation Roadster with cold-gas thrusters that it says make four to five times tire grip force, and posted zero to sixty in zero point eight one seconds. Musk calls it beyond movies. Also this week: The X Subscription, Grok Voice three point zero, Ship forty home, and CRS-thirty-five docked. This is H.A.T.E. correspondent No-lee-tah Al-set.

CATASTROPHE AT IR.TESLA.COM: THEY DELIVERED 486,532 CARS AND SOMEHOW BEAT EVERY ANALYST ON THE LIST

Tesla's Q3 report landed Friday morning with 464,391 produced, 486,532 delivered, and 13.7 GWh of energy storage deployed. The street had deliveries at about 462k; storage came in below forecasts. The 'demand is dead' chorus now has a spreadsheet problem.
